Two questions please.

Hi does your Downloads modification support secondary usergroups overriding the primary usergroups.

We have a subscription service that adds a secondary usergroup, I need something that if a member subscribes to the forums they will get the downloads permissions and usage of the secondary usergroup.

And

Does your modification, import from DownloadsII?

Cheers
Mick

v1.4 / v2.0 (currently in development) does support secondary usergroups, yeah :)

For the per-category permissions, it constructs a list of allowed usergroups and only disallows access if the user is not a member of any of the allowed usergroups.

We also have a DownloadsII importer available :)

So would the secondary usergroup override the primary and vice versa... based on YES.

As currently downloadsII works on the opposite, where a NO will override.

The basic functions of vbulletin are based on a YES will override, and I need something like this with the downloads.

So will your converter keep all my category images?

Is there anything the converter won't bring over to your system?

Mick

I can't speak to what DownloadsII or even vBDownloads v1.3.8 did, but I can tell you that v1.4+ is absolutely designed in a way that a Yes overrides a No across usergroups as per vBulletin's standards :)

Category images won't be imported, from what I can tell. You could always just edit the categories and set the image paths post-import, though :)
That may have been what tripped me up from importing them properly - vBDownloads don't store category images in a writeable directory anywhere, it relies on admins uploading the images to a directory of their choice and setting the image paths.

Beyond that, I have not used DownloadsII extensively enough that I can tell you what would get imported and what would not :(
I recommend duplicating your forum into a test board, installing vBDownloads, then running the importer. That way, you can compare (and also deal with any "unexpected features" - there are no bugs, only unexpected features) without worrying about your users wondering what's going on.

That sounds positive, do you know when the modification will be released - the new version :)

I would be very interested.

Thank you.
Mick

Sorry, I thought I had replied to this:

We expect a Pro-only Beta to be released this upcoming Friday :)

Hi Fillip H.

Could you let me know if this has been released yet?

And does it currently support the YES to Download approach

Thank you.

It was indeed released that Friday, and the Gold version of v2.0.0 will be released tonight :)

What I said in my original reply hasn't changed, Yes overrides No for member usergroups when it comes to being able to access categories or downloads.
