Eh, I guess there's not much chance of it getting fixed anytime soon then. If I'd known that unpaid mods have such low priority here even when it comes to fixing critical bugs I wouldn't have bothered to post here.

David - please let me know if you plan on fixing this soon or if I should just install some other moods mod.

For the record, this kind of non-responsiveness really doesn't reflect well on DBT as a whole. I appreciate that paid mods get priority support, but talking to myself is something I've come to expect from IB, smaller companies usually do much better. It's hard to take any company seriously when getting a line of response back requires several days or weeks. Given that the icons for this mod are being sold it's obviously at least a partially commercial mod so this makes it that much more strange.

Would it make any difference if I bought the icons pack today? Because I would have done so already if I got any indication that this mod would, you know, actually be made to WORK on my board. Feel free to PM me if you don't want to discuss it publicly.

It wouldn't make a difference (artwork sold is something which the artist is paid for not the coder etc).

The coder/support agent for this project David has been busy fixing bugs in the Beta version of his vBNotifications mod which has been taking up his time - as a general rule support for our free mods is done when outstanding Pro mod support is completed. That means that in situations where there is a lot of pro work to be done (such as during the beta phase of a product) it's possible that some free mods won't get seen to for a few days or more.

While I understand that it is frustrating to be kept waiting for things like this it's not exactly an easy situation for David either, it's damned if you do or damned if you don't. If he takes time off doing fixes on a Pro mod he gets customers complaining that they paid for something but he's off spending time on free mods instead of resolving the issues they are having with the product they paid for. If he focuses on fixing issues with pro mods first then he has posts like this.

It's a catch 22 situation for our coders really and there unfortunately isn't really any easy "solution" to the problem - the only fair thing to do is what happens just now, pro customers get priority and once their issues are resolved, issues with free mods are looked at.

Sorry I couldn't give a more helpful answer :(

Unfortunately the division between paid and free mod customers isn't as clear cut. I expect many customers who have bought your other mods also want to use your moods mod (like myself). Heck, I'd be happy to pay for the moods mod. Why don't you make it a paid mod so you could justify more dev time spent on it? I can't imagine it not being popular enough.

In this instance it's because the coder wouldn't have time to properly support it as a pro modification due to his other modification commitments at the moment =P.

There are plans to revamp the mod to make it Pro, but that's not likely to happen for a couple of months.

Gladius if you make my account admin on there i can take a look, same name as on here

I got it working for now, I had to make a new category and it works from there, the category N/A on there do not delete it, the moods will be in the category Blue.

Also check the perms for moods and status I set those up for you too.

Ok cool, if ya ever want it let me know, or maybe David will be able to get it fixed as soon as he is done with vBNotifs.

Ozzy, thanks, that works now, but it also shows an unselectable N/A mood category from the selection dropdown, which is obviously confusing. So this is a kinda-working workaround but I want to get rid of that N/A... why can't I delete it?

Also, I assume this is a common question - how can I add the mood selection in the top right info spot on all the board pages?

Also, I turned status updates off as I don't think we need it, but the "Status Updates" log panel is still there on forumhome... I assume this is a bug. How can I remove it from there as it's just confusing and useless at this point?

Thanks.

Eh, I just got feedback from my users that it doesn't work in IE9... same issue as the one I started this thread here for initially - clicking Blue does nothing. I'll give it a couple more days if we can get it fixed with or without David's help and then I'm uninstalling it. Far too much time wasted on this already.

I'll have an update in the next day or two which should have this fixed for you! :)

That's great news David, thanks. Any chance you could help me with the other issues mentioned above?

Also, got another bug report from my users:

In Firefox (v5) if I click on the edit icon, then the cancel link, then the edit icon again, I see an additional dropdown arrow to set my mood. I did this 5 times in a row and end up with 5 dropdown arrows.

I can confirm that this happens in Firefox 4 as well.

All of the above bugs should be fixed in the next update! I'm going to set tomorrow out for re-writing part of the mod! :)
