Ok, followed the upgrade, went back through the settings and renabled stuff. Created a new room.. set the permissions.. deleted the old hooks, cpnav, etc from the old system.

Turn it on and i get:

Fatal error: Using $this when not in object context in /home/mazdaspe/public_html/forum/dbtech/usertag/hooks/dbtech_vbshout_shoutbox_start.php on line 3

Also just noticed, it is no longer saving these settings to the database.. Meaning, anything i change, does not set. I had this problem before with Vbshout with the permission for each user group.

Please also update Advanced User Tagging :)

I updated this to 2.0 last week Fillip

just tried to uninstall to perform a clean install and received a db error while uninstalling. It didnt take down the DB, but had errors on reverting the tables. What do you think is happening here?

Could you please try re-uploading AUT? I had to make a hotfix :)

In order to properly uninstall you'll need to re-download and re-upload the files - I forgot to update the uninstaller when making this version :(

Ok, something seriously went wrong with the upgrade. These vbshout tables got corrupt or something. I cant do much without triggering db errors from the admin panel when trying maintence, clearing user settings, etc for vbshout.. I cant uninstall this and have no idea to delete the tables, instance, etc to start all over with this. Quick help would be appreciated.. Shout is an important part of my community and gets heavy usage. Thanks Fillip.

ok, i no longer get the UAT error i did before thanks to the hotfix. I ran the query.. i see nothing changed. With VBshout activated, it doesnt bring the forum down. But, after changing the custom instant varname in my template, the shout no longer is showing.. Settings still will not save. What do you suggest?

Try flushing the vBSEO cache then.

It's next to impossible for me to give any more advice since you apparently opted for a fresh install but got smacked by the uninstaller issue, so there's no telling what the state your install is in atm...

Ok, flushed the cache.. nothing.. i never got to the fresh install other then re-uploading the files.... should i try uninstalling it now?

well the uninstall did not work...

looks like a manual uninstall will be needed.. What tables do i need to delete or is there a query i can run?

Sorry, re-download and re-upload the files again - just fixed that problem.

Unfortunate mis-hap when trying to quickly update the uninstaller :(

For the future, could you please not double or triple post? If we've read your post we'll respond, so the edit function will work fine in most cases :)

Sorry about double posts..

Ok.. uninstall worked perfectly.. went to reinstall the xml.. setup the tables it looked like, then i saw this error:

  • * Created Table: dbtech_vbshout_ignorelist
    * Created Table: dbtech_vbshout_log
    * Created Table: dbtech_vbshout_shout
    * Altered Table: administrator
    * Altered Table: forum
    * Altered Table: user
    * Altered Table: usergroup
    * Populated Table: datastore
    * Populated Table: dbtech_vbshout_shout

    Updating Version Number To: 4.0.0

    Fatal error: Call to a member function query_write() on a non-object in /home/mazdaspe/public_html/forum/dbtech/vbshout/install/pro.php on line 5

Damn, sorry about that :(

Another re-download and re-upload :(

I've fixed that, and checked that no other installer files have that issue :(

Looks like we have success Fillip! Thanks.. Ill work on it later. im about to head out. Ill let you know if i run across any snags. Thanks for the prompt support as always :)

Ok, still have one issue and its major. No matter what i do in instance management, the settings will not save after making changes. That goes for setting usergroup privs in the same area. Now if i goto quick permissions setup, they stick. I dont understand this. What would cause the settings not to save, but quick user permissions to save?
