Hi,

I am going to purchase the optimize software after I try the Lite version out first.

Will I be able to upgrade easily once I purchase it?

I also have a config question.

1) I have to use Filecache as I do not have access to the server and I can't ask my host to install anything. I don't think anything else is installed on the server. Is there a way to find out?

All I know is that it is a Windows server.

2) Config.... Am I supposed to be changing the "No" to "YES" for:

Cache Style
Cache Template
Cache Datastore

To make it work?

The upgrade will be easy and pain free, as for your other questions the developer Deceptor will answer those when he pops online =)

Hey Gadget_Guy,

Let me answer those for you :)

1) Upgrading is easy, just upload the pro files and install the XML (while keeping vBO turned off during the upgrade), and that's it
2) By default none of them will be installed, especially on a windows server. It's unfortunate, vB Optimise supports WinCache which is designed especially for windows servers.
3) Yes, by default we don't turn any caching options on, you'll need to do that yourself :)

After configuration you should click "System Test" in the vB Optimise menu to make sure everything is working. Let us know if you have any further questions.

Thanks!

Everything turned on, reporting A-OK, will watch for a couple days... if we see improvements I will purchase the pro version to help support you.

Last question...

IF I can get my host to install WinCache will there be an improvement over using FileCache?

It will be a massive improvement, cache systems store data in RAM rather than the Hard Drive, which will always be better (unless you're rocking a few SSDs in raid...:p). I should note if you get WinCache, the minimum version required is 1.1 (and either php 5.2 or 5.3): http://www.iis.net/download/wincacheforphp, looks like it's out of beta now too which is good :)

Well I got my host to install it. (I thought it may be hard to get them to do it)

Turned on WinCache in the settings and I can already feel the improvements.

Going to let it run for a few days and see if my users see a difference. If they do I will purchase the pro version as I can only expect it to make things even better.

The only sad part is my host won't allow changes to the directory structure permissions so I am stuck with the warning that I can't save file attachments outside the database as per the optimal settings check.

it is the only warning I am getting.

Okay.... I couldn't wait... ;)

I went ahead and purchased the pro version.

Do I simply upload the new files and import the new product?

Or do I have to uninstall and re-install?
