Welcome to the closed beta testing program for vBArcade. This is an internally-complicated addon that would greatly benefit from your attention as testers to ensure it is as perfect as possible when it is available publicly.

As such, my plan is to release "task" updates in the form of threads in this forum to correlate to the latest test release also posted here. Questions or discussion on such tasks should be within those threads.
The addon is not entirely complete as of this post, though it should not be in a state that will harm your forum, and of course bugs are probable. I will be finishing up next portions in time for the next tasks.

If you ever have an issue or suggestion, create a new thread in this forum and fill out a tracking report like normal.

Please use this thread for general discussion or questions.

As thanks for your participation, testers will get a discount on the gold version of vBArcade, and more weight for testing beta versions of other products in the future.

I have a couple of FGD games, but I cant find any d/l links for Gamersafe?! (+ some of them are mochi games)

gamersafe is FGD's sometimes-supports-scoring proprietary system. you can find the games with it here FlashGameDistribution :: Gamersafe Games

I misread your post John, yeah they all work fine.

Looking over at their site again, there could be a niche that could be good for us maybe Ok I'm thinking out loud here.. If member = 20 highscores then member gain an arcade achievement or length of play in arcade = bonus something/power up. hmmmm. perhaps not, I dunno!?

yeah vba achievements and such are another thing to consider after gold various ideas would be good.

Ok I tried one of the games from, FlashGameDistribution :: Gamersafe Games

But it did not save the score, is it the game or something else?

upon careful observance of firebug's net tab while playing that game uses gamersafe's microtransactions, but its scoring system uses... mochi

sorry, games get weird like that.

Ozzy47 ; Darkwaltz4 , what was your take on Hornstar's feedback in the blogs about being too busy?

On a side note, I cant wait for the LiTe version to come out, not that I want it, as I have bought 'Lifetime' (oh yeah) but I want to see the amazement over at vb.org when it gets released and see what the feedback is.

Well, the comments i got before starting was the other arcades looked "dated", and ipa in particular wasnt even made for vb so it didnt follow any of the same theme elements.

Personally, I like how the game panels have turned out (they have all the info youd ever want in one nice little box), but the home portal is harder to design without duplicating a lot of stuff everywhere - not to mention its still kinda messy when you have a lot of categories, so if anyone has ideas for that im open to hear them (i put in a bunch of suggestions for it awhile back).

If you could point me to the css for the tabs I could work on it a bit, I think right now it is codded in the jquerry js file.

As far as hornstar's comments, I think the arcade looks just fine, some minor tweaking is all it needs, maybe he wants it to read his mind and know what game he wants to play, and automatically go to that page.

thanks to freekoid, its come to my attention that i clobbered the readme file from the dbtech download for vbarcade.

does anyone who downloaded the first vbarcade zip from the license system (beta 18) still have the zip somewhere and can email it to blackwaltz4@msn.com asap please?

i have beta 20 ready and id like to not have to rewrite that hehe... thanks in advance!

v20 back end is coming along great, the selective search, descriptive unticking, category adding, all good.

What else do we have left front end? Forumblocks / CMS Blocks / Postbit (trophies) / Navbar Utilization maybe

featurewise, i need to do the user-view (their latest scores and trophies, some overall stats), ditto for overall, game discussion, finalize the portal appearance, some cleanup. then its ready for gold i think.

then a flurry of integration with dbtech stuff.

some next-version stuff are tournaments, including 1-tier (ie challenges)

There is nothing new under the sun, or so the saying goes =P

I'm sure some people requested it after seeing how great vBArcade is, can't really fault her for adding features people want - even if you did see them here first ;-)

yeah... the v3a folks are pretty steamed at me for making vbarcade in general.
