@Fillip H. will have to see if it is feasible to add that option.

But I can show you a rudimentary way to get some affect.

Download this image:
14dfaa304c55a5.jpg
and save it as rules.jpg

Upload the image to your dbtech/vbshout/images folder via ftp.

Post a thread on shoutbox rules if you do not already have one, get the url to the thread ie: h**p://www.mysite.com/showthread.php?17-Shoutbox-Rules

Now open your dbtech_vbshout_editortools_pro template and at the end of the code in there you will see
PHP:
</vb:if>
Above that add the following code:
PHP:
<span class="seperator"> </span>

<a href="http://www.mysite.com/showthread.php?17-Shoutbox-Rules"><img border="0" src="dbtech/vbshout/images/rules.jpg" class="inlineimg" title="ShoutBox Rules">
</a>
The url in that code
PHP:
http://www.mysite.com/showthread.php?17-Shoutbox-Rules
is where you paste your link to your shoubox rules post.

The title="ShoutBox Rules"text in that code is what it says when you hover over the image, you can change that to your liking.

Once that is all done your shoutbox will have a new icon in it:

When your members click on the

it will take them to the ShoutBox Rules post in the same window

I didn't get a chance to try it yet...thanks for the detailed instructions. I would have it done already...but realized when I uninstalled my former chatbox that I forgot to make a copy of my rules. :eek: So I had to go back to the drawing board and make up new rules. Maybe I will get back on this task today. I've been torturing Fillip H. all weekend since installing vbactivity and the pro tabs... he deserves a break from my constant "ideas". :)

(This is the first time I tried to tag or mention anyone...lets see if it works. I'm not sure what option it is looking for when I select wrap mention bbcode? So I went with @ instead...)

Just letting you know that you used the mention code correctly - you can check this manually a few ways, the easiest is by looking at the post - if the persons name became a link you did it correctly ^.^

Cosmic... so what does the mention bbcode do and what is it looking for for the option?

Ozzy47 - it worked perfectly. On vb 3.8 it is just the </if> not </vb:if>. Also I added a target attribute to the rules. It would be nice to just do a popup or something using a tool tip, but this will do for now. :) thanks a bunch!

Why do I see vb user tagging mod in my future....

The mention BBCode is basically a way of doing it manually. The @ username actually just inserts the mention /mention BBCode in the right place for you though.

Some people prefer it because they required a delimiter (e.g @ username;) because it can sometimes accidentally tag things that use the @ sign - e.g email addresses.

By adding the ; delimiter this no longer happens, but it does make the feature a little more awkward as users need to remember the ; so in those cases it can be easier just to have the person use the mention BBCode.

Yeah I forgot vb3 uses </if> and not </vb:if> thanks for the heads up on that
