Well thank you! That is a clear answer. Please, in future don't just assume that your members knows everything you do. We don't. Do you know how to build a Windows 7 Visual Style? And what applications you need to do it?

I made an assumption about the host, not you :)

As for your question, Ave's Windows Style Builder works with Windows 7 or you can use Resource Hacker to edit various system files to replace the bitmaps (albeit it's not recommended for obvious reasons).

Will you buy me a licence for that program? If so, sure :)

:p My point was, if I could find that information - which clearly can't be 100% wrong, or you would have corrected me in some way - with less than 4 minutes on Google, your host could have found the answer to its question on Google as well.

For instance: https://www.google.co.uk/search?scl...lletin+++xcache+size&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq=&pbx=1
The first result is this: http://www.vbseo.com/f34/installing-xcache-your-server-18498/ - in the "Admin Notes" section (and in fact, the important bit is highlighted in the search result snippet) the information your host would have needed would be found there.

What I'm saying is, because of what you said (customers like yourselves can't be expected to know as much as paid professionals - e.g. a web host) I'm curious as to why they believed you knew the exact amount of cache you would need.

From the looks of it it's caching actual .php files as well, that could be related. In either case, with no reliable way of reproducing it it's sadly impossible for me to assist :(

We had all kinds of issues with XCache on this server, but ever since we swapped to APC we've had no problems (just had to turn off opcode caching on APC too). Would it be possible for you to try that instead?

As far as I know there's no noticeable speed difference.

OK thanks, then please change your documentation, because xcache is not supported. And now I have wasted about 10 hours of my life battling this out for nothing. And you are so mighty that you just refuse admitting that there is a huge problem with this product.

If it was something that was happening 100% of the time I would happily go check it out, however it is nigh on impossible to debug something that doesn't happen 100% of the time.

I also pointed out a possible cause for the problem, as well as offered a recommendation for another system that has less compatibility issues with various server configurations.

Add that to the fact that there are multiple users who are running this on XCache successfully, I'm not entirely sure what it is you expect me to do?

If you could please let me know what you expect me to do about an issue that we cannot reproduce reliably, then I'll do it if it's within my power and if not, explain to you exactly why I can't do it :)

I have switched to Filecache as to not create further headaches for everyone. My apologies if I perhaps came over as rude. I was just extremely frustrated and very tired after moving hosts.

The only thing that is concerning me a bit now is that in the Resource Statistics page, I am still getting nothing, it is right on the bottom for even the time it has been on Filecache. I do however see it rise on the "MySQL Queries vB Optimise has saved this forum:" part on my forumhome page. Not sure if I should be concerned or not?

Thank you.

It's possible that the Resource Saving Statistics are not tied into Filecache, I'm not the original developer of the mod and I haven't taken an in-depth look at how that particular page works so I couldn't say for certain :(

OK....thanks. Another aspect of this mod not working then. But OK NP. I will just use it and believe it works. Like the Anunakies.

I just checked your forum out and the Resource Saving Statistics works fine for me, the line climbs with the number of queries saved :)

Yes, I just seen that thanks, however it barely moves. Big difference from a few days ago. That is why I was concerned that it is not really working anymore, or that something is perhaps wrong on the settings or so.

Ah I see, I thought you were saying it was a flat line, sorry :(

I'm pretty sure that's just the fact that Filecache is inherently less effective than RAM-based cache systems.
