How to remove space between post foot and like box & how to give custom background

I'm trying to bring the like box in as clean as possible against the post it's attached to. Is there a way to reduce the gap between where the post ends, and the thank you box begins? I've circled it in the following pic.

Also, because the thank you box is pulling the same background defined in the 'postbit_userinfo_background' custom graphics meant for the postbit look poor in the thank you box. Is there any way to give the thank you box it's own background color?

It's not possible to remove that gap as far as I know, sorry. Then again I'm not a CSS wizard, so it may be technically possible, I just don't know how, sorry


Here's a canned reply regarding the background issue:

This is most commonly the result of CSS settings, namely the background attribute of the .postbitlegacy .postfoot .textcontrols a, .postbit .postfoot .textcontrols a, .eventbit .eventfoot .eventcontrols a { CSS class, in postbit.css.
To fix it, please try the following steps:

Step 1) Remove all the contents of the postbit_control_background StyleVar.
Step 2) If that didn't fix it, please enter the postbit.css file and find the .postbitlegacy .postfoot .textcontrols a, .postbit .postfoot .textcontrols a, .eventbit .eventfoot .eventcontrols a { CSS class, and remove the background: definition.
