Bug Missing notifications and username

Would it be possible to fix the following issues: I logged on and had 1 thread tag and 4 mentions in the drop down notifications box, I clicked on the New Thread Tags link to see the thread but then after that I noticed that the 4 new mentions had disappeared from the drop down menu, is there any way to stop them from disappearing until you have physically checked each one? I am on 3.8.5, pic attached, thanks.

Another problem I have noticed is that the username disappears when clicking the preview post button after using the bbcode function, not too serious but it could confuse some members

That's a pity, can you tell me which template deals with that so I can edit it to prevent the New Thread Tags option from showing up, thanks.

It's not a template, it's in a file. It can't be changed without being overwritten after every update.
