qpurser

Customer
Just installed the PRO version and most of it is pretty self explaining and works well.

Call me stupid but could you explain me a bit in simple words what "hash tags" are?
There are some instructions in the manual but still don't get it what would be the difference between user tagging and hash tags?

Thanks
Michael

"Mentions"
To "Mention" someone, simply type @ and then their user name. So for instance, qpurser would mention a member called qpurser.
The mention will be converted into a link to their profile, an entry will be added to their profile, and they will receive either an email or a forum notification that someone wants their attention.

"Thread Tags"
To "Tag" someone, click the "Tag User(s)" button in a thread, then enter the username(s) of the users you want to tag separated by a semi-colon.
The tag list will update with links to their profiles, an entry will be added to their profile, and they will receive either an email or a forum notification that someone wants their attention.

"Hash Tags"
Using a "hash tag" is quite similar to using a "Mention" - you simply type # followed by the word. So for instance, #winning will create a hash tag for the word "winning".
The hash tag will be converted into a link to a page showing all other posts / blogs / etc that used the same hash tag, and users who subscribed to that particular hash tag will receive a notification similar to the other two types.

You should use hash tags in a similar fashion you'd use them on Twitter or Instagram, to "categorise" your content. This will allow users to quickly find other content similar to the content you just produced.
