I had a quick question.

I was looking to move to a new host. I asked them if they used

* APC
* eAccelerator
* Memcache
* XCache
* WinCache
* Filecache

Basically they stated they don't, but they use Apache Cache. And that it cache's information which is used or loaded regularly.

So at this point I didn't know what to tell them. I don't know how Apache Cache would differ from vBOptimize?

So I am looking for some info here.

Thanks.

Apache Cache tends to refer to file cache (which is the worst of the options unfortunately).

(file cache simply refers to the files being cached on the hard disk - the fact your host didn't know that is a little worrying to be honest :p)

I would request to your host that they install memcache or xcache as these are significantly better options - if they are unable to i would recommend finding a new host to be honest, as it is a very reasonable request.

So how is memcache installed? Do you just install it on the server itself and your good to go? Also is memcache free?
