Pro vBShout Pre-sale questions

Hi guys,

These questions are for vBShout Pro edition

1. Will we be able to customize the style? (e.g. change the color schemes of each part of the chat box)

2. Can we create permanent password-protected chat rooms?

3. How do we place the chat box directly on top of the forum's list in forumhome(the main forum list)?

1.) The Shoutbox get's it's colors from your forum, so it will look comparable to your skins.

2.) Not at this time. Chatrooms can be created on a usergroup basis only. Also you can allow users to create chat rooms, which they can Invite / Manage users that can access this chat room.

3.) To put vBShout in a custom location, do the following:


Step 1: AdminCP -> DBTech - vBShout-> Instance Management -> [Edit].

Step 2: Change the Auto-Display Shoutbox setting to Disabled.

Step 3: Write down the the Varname setting. For the default shoutbox, it's instance1. The rest of this guide will assume you replace instance1 with the actual Varname if it is different.

Step 4: Enter the Style Manager and add either {vb:raw show.vbshout_instance1} (vB4) or {$show[vbshout_instance1]} (vB3) to the templates you wish the shoutbox to appear in.


Follow these steps as described and you will have total control over the position of the Shoutbox.
Please note that some locations may not work as intended on vBulletin 3.8, and also note that it is not designed to go in the Forum Blocks side-bar (vBulletin 4).

1) Will I be able to give specific users the ability to create/manage chat rooms or is it a free for all option?

2) Which template should I place the code in for it to go on top of the forums list?

1.) It is on a per usergroup basis

To be more specific, if you create a chat room in the AdminCP, nobody else can be invited to that chat room. Everybody in the usergroups you select will be automatically added to the chat room, and they also cannot leave it.

If you create one via /createchat, only you / the person who created it can manage invites or kick people.
