G'Day and Greetings from a Newbie,

I just found your vB Shoutbox on vB.org and installed the lite version on my 4.0.3 test environment. I am considering purchasing the pro version, but want to make sure that it would be considered legal to install it for testing and then move it to its final resting place once we upgrade the live board.

Now...for ME!

I am a full-time IT Analyst for AT&T (don't ask me for discounted products or services 'cause even I do not get those from the Evil Empire).

I also run two Storytelling RPG type sites and am always looking for upgrades to enhance the writing/playing experience for my members. Currently both active sites are on 3.8.x, but will be upgraded in the near future.

Beyond that, I have 8 demanding parrots, two cats, a mortgage, and live in the Southeastern USA so 'tis usually hot and muggy here.

So far, I love your product!

Regards,

Alisa

Welcome to the forum Alisa. None of the major team members are located in the US so you won't get nagged by us :p

PS: That's a lot of parrots!

Heya Alisa ^.^

I had a look at your sites, (obv only one is up just now) I like the look of them, very interesting!

As for your query, you can have it running on the test environ NP, License lets you run it on one installation at a time, if you're gunna be putting one license on a test environment as well as the same license on a live environment then give us a heads up, but it's something you're allowed to do =)

That's good to know. The Babylon 5 license should only overlap on the live site and the test site briefly once we upgrade. Just long enough to let me make sure all is working before my writers get hold of it. Little girls, I swear!

Hello Alisa and welcome to DB-tech, we're the funny talking british people with the accents (pshhh...) its good to have you on the site, glad your enjoying our products. I hope you find what your looking for here and i hope your stay with us on the forums is long and enjoyable.

Should you need anything, feel free to ask a member of the crazy team (also known as Staff members) which you'll notice all have a different color except little old me who gets boring grey :P *kicks Fillip H.*

Thank you for the warm welcome.

I just installed vB Shout Pro on my B5 test site...so far only one glitch and I'm trying to work that out before I whine for help.

Looking forward to the RPG product release.

Regards,

Alisa

Ha ha i wouldn't consider it as "whining" we are willing to help wherever piossible, after all its what we do best :3

Hi Miss Lady Player!

We are wanting to get a parrot too once we have our house. >: D We currently have a kitty. Do you many parrots ever go cat stalking?

Ms. Notacat,

I so LOVE that avatar.

Most of the birds are used to cats and way bigger than the cats. We only two that might make the cats think they could win in a one-on-one fight. I have an Australian Grass Parakeet (Princess of Wales variety) and an Illiger's Mini Macaw. They could hurt the Princess, but even the Mini would be a match for them. Usually, when the buzzards are in the house on their stands, the cats go into hiding. They hate the noise and all the big birds talk...and scream...non-stop. The Moluccan Cockatoo puffs out and hisses at them...so it gets amusing.

So...I'd say yes...some of the parrots cat stalk. The big Military Macaw, Hector, often calls "Kitty kitty kitty" and when they get close he screams at them.

It's a zoo on a good day.

Regards,

Alisa

This is my favourite thing i've heard all day xD

Hey there, sorry for the late greeting :(

You have got to stop ragging on yourself! Your questions are by no means stupid, and they are also very detailed and eloquent - both very important aspects in not only helping me figure out what's wrong, but also doesn't make me feel like we're essentially asking each other the way to the beach in very loud voices xD
Don't worry if you don't know the answer to our troubleshooting questions either, if everybody knew what we know, we'd be out of business xD

That should put a stop to that.

Hope you enjoy your time around here, and feel free to post random, off-topic things in our off topic forums, Diana's running out of random ;)

PS: If you want, I can handle installation and configuring of vBShout on your sites when you put them live :)

Fillip, you're a gem. My apologies for "ragging on myself". I do feel challenged with vBulletin. From the beginning, I've almost always had a tech do everything so I am learning! I do have a background in IT, software integration testing, but it's all UNIX and I just feel lost with vB when it comes to installs and making changes. However, NOT the Village Idiot! *grins*

Once we go live, I would be humbly grateful for the assistance with the install. In fact, I'll name my next parrot after you...I'd offer my first born but he sheds feathers and bites.

I bought licenses for each board, but am probably going to install the 3.8 version on the Stargate RPG board for now as I am almost afraid to upgrade it to vB 4.0 (although I will once my test environment is free and I can do some functional testing).

Thanks and Warmest Regards,

Alisa

Parrots... i dont know, maybe i'm just not a bird's man... lol..
hi Alisa... do u mind sharing links to your B5 site?? thanks!!!

Don't worry about that =)

We know the difference between someone posting a link for someone, and someone going around just plastering their site all over the place.

^.^
