I was wondering if there had been improvement on the annoying hooks you guys use now where everything is just slapped into the postbit with no real way of customisation.

I brought up about it months ago as when you have all of your mods installed it makes for very long postbits, and so for months i have been attempting to put them all on tabs (using this modification: http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=184136) however the way your templates are done (through the one hook) it makes it almost impossible to edit it all and make it look good.

For example you can't just have a users credit/currency amount on a tab.

More or less the way it is now is you move it all or you have nothing.

Please let me know if this is going to be edited in future releases or for the first time since i started using vb if I have to move away from John's products and go to the other vbcredits available.

I am trying to come up with a good way to allow this, but the truth is essentially everyone didnt want to deal with template edits in the slightest - just for the stupid things to show up.
what kind of scenario do you envision would be best to accomplish what you want? ive had this in the back of my mind, but wasnt sure the best way to go about it.

I completely understand the whole template edit thing - and appreciate what you have done in making this easier for the majority of the people - however this post here displays exactly what I am talking about.

When you look at your post it is like three lines long, however look at how big and how much empty space there is just to fit in the credits, thanks, activity, achievements etc into the postbit.
And with a forum where you are having thousands of posts a day it really is alot of wasted space.

While I don't really mind using the hook, as it is easier for those who don't want to do the template edits etc if there was some way we could into the hook/plugins and more or less (for example) copy the entire bit relating to vBActivity and be able to put that stuff into our postbit template manually, that would do - however at the moment if you attempt something like that once you attempt anything to do with the hook that stuff stops working.

I know it is hard for you guys as your trying to make things easier - and normally I wouldn't mind but when you actually think by the time you add a rank image (if you use them) or an avatar that is the postbit further extended by 100px or so to something that is already huge.

If you go to this thread (on one of the sites that make up my new network): http://www.paranormalboard.com/showthread.php?p=7340 you will see that that is the site I am attempting to get the postbit tabs working in.
What I would like is kinda: The first tab Join Date, Posts, Online Status, Reputation,
The second tab: vBActivity stuff
Third Tab: Thanks/Likes/Dislike etc
Fourth Tab: Credits
Five tab: Facebook/Myspace etc details

Now I know that not everyone wants the tabs, however some people like to move things around and place them in a different area so that all of our sites don't look the same, at the moment however it is more or less we have it how it is on this site - long and bulky - or we don't have it anywhere as the moment you start moving things the moment it stops working.

Have you tried creating your own hook in the same template and then going into the display manager and changing the hook name that the postbit display uses to match? Should disengage it from whatever else you have on that hook. If you want to change the actual html for the display, the template that it uses should be listed there as well, which you can edit from the style manager.

I will try all of that. I guess it's a case of when you use something for so long (eg: vBCredits v1.4) and get used to the way it works when you change, or it changes it takes some getting use to.
I will attempt all of this and post back here so you can see me Fail miserably and laugh at me and my attempts :)

Queue - 15 cans of red bull, a carton of coke cans and 5 packets of smokes for the days work ahead. lol.
