Hi, I just installed the Xcache 1.3.0 on my server and also installed vboptimized 2.3.0 on vbulletin 4.0.3 PL1. When I run the system test from the vboptimize admincp option it failed on the thrid test:

Running Test: Connection to xcache
Test completed successfully

Running Test: Store Cache
Test completed successfully

Running Test: Fetch Cache
Your Opcache Operator extension is functioning, however it is unable to store data. Please check your extension configuration.

Running Test: Flush Cache
Test completed successfully

now how do I solve this "unable to store data" error?

Thanks,

PS: I can access Xcache web admin utilty just fine so my password is fine too.

yep, as you can see it passes the flush cache test and as I said I can access the xcache web admin utility just fine. I double checked the vboptimize config.php as well and my username/password settings are fine too and I have also enable the XCache Authentification from the Misc settings too :S what other setting do I need to check? php.ini settings are fine, I even tried after changing password 3-4 times it's not working with vboptimize.

hmm..will APC give the same performance as Xcache? I am thinking about removing it too since it's not even working wth VBO <_<

It's a common problem with XCache installs, doesn't always work "out of the box". Not an issue with vBO itself so it's not a "vbo can't work with xcache issue", the system test is purely designed to test your extension to see if it's working.

As for the issue, check that "var_size" is above 0M in php.ini, this is a common error that causes the issue. Failing that you can contact your host/XCache to see if they can help you resolve the issue. Also if you're thinking of switching from XCache, the best alternative is Memcache as the two match performance by 99.99%, APC has been known to be slower but I've not checked the latest benchmarks :)

^ thanks for your response mate, but after doing few hours research I found that I was using SuPHP <_< so I switched to DSO and now it's working awesomely fine. however I do have a little concern at start vbulletin was throwing DB errors after every few mins but now it seems to be working fine..is it something to do with Xcache?

^ I was getting "Couldn't connect to the server" but now it seem to be working fine..but I will keep an eye on it and man I can't believe my server load has been decreased a lot and in just few hours of run I am seeing this at the bottom of forum home "MySQL Queries vB Optimise has saved this forum 30,505". I just throw in vbseo as well with Xcache enabled!! I am lovin VBO!

Yeah if you're server was stressing before, vBO should help a lot to bring the load average down - so that's great to hear as that's what I intended it to do :)

Let us know if you have any further questions/problems, enjoy!
