We have a user who has decided to seriously abuse the like/dislike system. I've had to resort to completely banning this user from our forums entirely.

To prevent further such abuse in the future, I would love to be able to ban specific users from being able to use the like/dislike system.

Is this possible?

It's not currently possible, no :(

I've changed this to a feature request so it will be taken into consideration for the future :)

Well, I figured out a rather ugly way to solve the problem for now.

I cloned my "Registered" usergroup and created a "Banned from Like/Dislike" usergroup. If I make the banned group primary and use the button manager, I can make it so that a user can't see/use the post thanks buttons at all.

Ugly indeed, but it works!

Thanks for posting the solution, hopefully we'll be able to reduce the amount of hass in the future :)

I havn't had any issue with abuse, and I want them to use the heck out of it, but I can forsee a need to throttle the number of times you can use it.
but not at the expence of moredatabase hits .

The fella abusing at my forum racked up over 600 dislikes in about two days. He was just mashing the dislike button on every single new post.
