To thank or not to like!!

It occurred to me when musing over the thanks / like mod that why is there an option to do both at the same time?

I could hit the thanks button and the like button but arnt they both the same thing?

"If I like a post I will thank it.". I don't need to like it as well!

What happens if I thank a post and hit dislike - arnt I the strange one .. Lol

So my question is how can this mod be put to good use or is it merely for optional use?

Think of it this way:

Saying "Thank you" to someone does not mean the same as "I like you".

You have ways to decide if someone can thank and dislike etc, but we found, like trekkan, that like and thanks are different.

For instance if someone here on DBTech is helpful, I might thank them. If they post something funny i might "like" it.

Some sites use thanks only in a "let you access content" capacity as well, and like is the generic button for good posts.

^.^ It was requested, and wasn't exactly difficult to put in, so we did.

IMHO it's a design issue, thanks/like are not the same chose, but put in in the same position causing confusion in the users...would be useful to put it in different places, or offer the possibility of enable/disable thanks or llke in certain forums.

Wait... you can't enable/disable Thanks for certain boards? ...

You can do this with Post Thanks/Like/Dislike PRO version.
