Bug Special characters in thread Title

I have recently moved across from vbSEO and have noticed a small issue with special characters in a thread title.

If a user uses a % sign in the thread title the subsequent friendly name results in an error. Is there any way around this?

Bad Request

Your browser sent a request that this server could not understand.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

I've tried adding in this under the "Custom Character Filter" which appears to work, is there a better solution or is this the best idea?

You can also use the "Remove Non-Latin Characters" setting in the URL rewrite settings.
