Hello!

I have an issue with the full page guest caching feature.

Basically if a bot visits a page any dhtml menus are disabled and thus the page is saved with broken dhtml menus.

When the real user visits they see the saved broken page rather than a fully functioning dhtml menu I see if i am logged in or if i empty the cache and view the page before a bot does.

I hope this makes sense, is there a way i can use this feature but have it not cache any dhtml menus or something to that effect.

Thanks,

Dave.

Is what a feature, drop down menus, i though all vb forums had them?

I'm on about the navbar drop down menus, just like you have here.

I see you have had vBOptimise for over a year, is this issue been happening since install or just recently?

Have you changed anything on the site lately (ie: new mods templates ect)?

Does this happen on the default skin?

No it is not down to any changes I made, i simply noticed it recently.

It happens even when using a default vanilla template.

Basically bots dont activate javascript, so if a bot crawls a page before a real browser any drop down menus are NOT cached by VBO.

Spider detection is by no means an exact science, so if it is indeed the case that spiders ignore JS files then this can sadly not be fixed :(
