Have you guys ever thought of modifying the chat software or proving instructions on how to modify the chat templates so that it appears as a standalone page instead of a box inside a vbulletin shell? I know there is a "detached" mode, but it still shows the forum info and it isn't directly linked to the main page. I would like to see this software take up 100% of the page or close to it (maybe just the current box, expanded and with a border added, would do). I'd like an easy way to do so by editing templates, or a modification we could add that would set this up automatically.

Also, if possible, I would like it so that anonymous guests can post in the chat and choose names at login that other members aren't currently using.

The latter is something we might look into when we're updating vB

As far as expanding the detach feature... We've not had much demand for it from customers, and it would probably be more hassle than it's worth, so it's unlikely.

You sure it isn't possible to just take the chatbox right off the forum page and simply paste it into a whole new HTML window? I don't see how this is difficult, I mean, it's the same code working exactly the same way. No modification of the software should be required- just knowledge of how the templates work.

Okay, well, you showed me that GENERIC_SHELL template, correct? Is there any way to just move what you put into the main page into that blank "generic shell" and make a new page out of it?

Like I said, you still need to include vB stuff so the css looks right. Also, messing too much with that template will mess up other pages that use thats template.
