First of all, I apologize for posting this as a "How Do I" as there is no option for posting a general comment (for good reason, this is a support forum) and there are many threads about his issue, it would be pure spam to post to them all. So I've decided to post my experience here, and let the powers that be decide where it belongs.

For a long time I got the "Invalid Response from Server" message. Both as a free user and when I upgraded to PRO. I posted about it, as many of you have as well, and was unable to resolve the issue. Now, I was working on a seemingly unrelated issue on my server when I stumbled upon this...

I added a CRON job that runs every hour that executes apachectl -k graceful. From the Apache site:

The graceful restart causes the parent process to advise the children to exit after their current request (or to exit immediately if they're not serving anything). The parent re-reads its configuration files and re-opens its log files. As each child dies off the parent replaces it with a child from the new generation of the configuration, which begins serving new requests immediately.

The upshot for me (and my intended result) was it clears out the memory usage on my server. Something that I was running up against my limit from time to time causing a crash. What I also noticed, and to my user's great appreciation, was that the dreaded "Invalid Response from Server" message was G.O.N.E.... :)

Now. I am unsure if this has anything to do with vBShout itself, or if just the general improvement of the health of my server caused the problem to be resolved. But I would suggest to any of you experiencing the same issue to try this trick and see if it works for you..

Good Luck!

Yes that is a good bit of information, hopefully it helps those experiencing that issue, thanks for sharing! :D
