Disabling Smilies

How do you disable smilies completely? I got rid of the smileys button, but if people manually type the smiley out it shows up. I also disabled basic bbcode.. The reason I want to get rid of it.. is because Firefox cannot process the smileys properly.. and people end up having to scroll down one line to see the chat. I also tried to setup the image amount to -1 which just ends up giving an error to users to get rid of the smiley before post. I just want it to process the smiley as text

Turn off smilies in the vBulletin Options for shoutbox

one last question, I would like to change the background color of the entry area for text from white.. to dark gray to match the background color of the chatbox, so people can use the appropriate text colors in the entry area. where would i go about editing that>

The input area works off of two StyleVars:
input_background and control_focus_background. The first is before the user selected the input area, and the 2nd is while the user is typing.

The actual shouts' background area works off of the postbit_background StyleVar.

ok cool think i got it , and how do i change the default font color that people start off with? atm its black.

That's sadly not something we've been able to figure out how to do. Even vBulletin itself does nto allow you to do this, so you should change the input area and background colour accordingly
