Hi Ozzy, I see that I can add individual members in the ACP settings to force them to read PM's. Is it not possible to add a link in all members profiles to force them. Maybe with usergroup settings who can use it?

Capture31.webp

I am using another mod to do this, and it works great. I would love to however just use this product of dbtech.

Thanks.

So what is the difference from that mod to mine? You can set users to force read with both mods, but with vBSuper PM's it has to be done from the back end.

Thats not a bad idea taurus i do however like the fact you can set this and forget it the other mod is done individually if ozzy was to do both front end and back end perhaps there could be an image that directs you to the settings like vbdonate does with the pencil and there has to be a way of maybe imputing the users id in the field included users ...

but this is just perfect the way it is now imo

IMO it would be confusing to some admins having the settings in both the front end and in the back end, if you set a user to be forced in one, you may forget about it. Also the way the other mod works, is you have to go to each members profile in order to force them to read pm's, which again IMO is a bit awkward.

With the other mod I can choose which usergroups can force users to read PM's. And they just need to go to a user's profile page and click that link. Now admins only can go into the ACP and force users from there. All my moderators etc send warning etc as PM's to members, and the other mod just makes it so much easier for them to force users to first read the PM.

So the user that gets forced in your mod stays forced? For me it works much easier. After a user has been forced, and read the PM in the other mod he is unforced automatically, and can continue browsing the forum.

Yeah I suppose in that sense it would help. So in the other modification, if a moderator forces the user "Taurus" to read PM's, once Taurus reads the pm from the moderator he is no longer forced to read PM's? Or does the moderator have to go back and unforce Taurus from reading?

Yes, he (Taurus) would no longer be forced after reading the PM. But until he physically reads the PM he cannot browse the forum.

I see, but it will make Taurus have to read all future pm's from the moderator until the moderator un forces Taurus from reading.

No. After each force, and reading the PM, everything is cleared. So if Taurus is sent another PM afterwards, he has to be forced again to read that PM.

I am unable to replicate that functionality with that mod. If I sent a user 2 PM's, and then set them to force read from their user profile, they must read both of those pm's before browsing the forums. And if I send them another one after they read both of those, they are forced again to read the new pm.

Well that is very interesting indeed......lol

Then I understood that mod and how it functions wrong. Thanks for clarifying that for me. Luckily I have not been using it too long. But it would be cool right? I know you will be able to do something like that!

Yeah I have a idea on how to do it, just not sure if it can be done. I'll look into if for future versions.

For my sanity: ( Look into how the checkbox is done in SOHP, maybe can use similar functionality )
