Hello there. ;)

My real name is Luke. My old username (if anyone remembers "the older generation") is Darklink. I've helped develop vBulletin Apps for the old generation including IPBShout.

I'm no longer a developer for apps for forum software. I am now a developing partner for a billion dollar company that promotes cloud computing into the web industry. I build training administration cloud-based software.

I'm 19 (20 in June).
I live in South England.
I have a huge liking for cars and money. ;)

Any questions?

Edit: btw - Why can't we put images in our sigs and upload avatars? Bit unfair right?

i've never heard of cloud..whats it all about? and welcome to the forums. i wish i had the skills to programme at such a level. i feel ashamed being 21 and unable to do some of the stuff the younger folk do.

Cloud computing involves having a set of online tools and utilities to work with rather than having it all on your desktop. You don't have to download anything and it's all based in the simple browser your running right now.

Take Google for instance. Google is a huge example of Cloud Computing. You have Google Apps which involves Gmail, Buzz, Checkout, Labs, Calendar, Photos, Documents.

They are all apps which would effectively work on your desktop, but would work more effectively in your browser as you will have no need for memory, hard disk space, etc. Just an online connectivity.

What I work with is the most advanced example of Cloud Computing available today. Which is Salesforce.com. A utility for business's all over the world to manage their Sales and other aspects of their business with ease. Salesforce.com have built a programming language which can be programmed via the browser (defining Cloud Computing futher) or via Eclipse SDK on the desktop using syncronization tools. It's called Apex, and the markup language (a quick tool that converts to XHTML) Visualforce.

The market for Cloud Computing is so big, they are actually attempting to convert computer games to the cloud. So you don't need to buy the game at a shop. You buy online and play the game online. No downloads, no installation, nothing! It works by compressing video of the games action and sending it to your monitor or tv a bit like a youtube movie. Your key inputs are simply sent to the server that you are playing the game off from.

Of course, the only reason why they haven't released cloud gaming, is because they need to overcome the problem of slow internet connections. I don't think it's a matter of overcomming this problem programmatically however. Everyone just needs to a damn good connection. I would say fibre is the way, but I heard there is something out there better than fibre now. Am I right?

Welcome!

Since you are involved in cloud technology, I want to ask whether security should be a top concern for cloud users, or is it just FUD?

Ah knew it!
Well he probably doesnt remember me, but I was under the alias
Absolute//Zero

Though my involvement with GZ|E was in its early years and when it just migrated to vBulletin, then I kind of fell off on that site.
