I know this would be the collaboration between two people, but this feature would be AMAZING! If you could make vBShout available as a feature for the vBulletin Mobile app, that would be epic. :)

i figured...but you know what...you are all developers...lets make an different app and integrate all your add ons for it!! I def wouldn't mind helping out where i can. I can code Objective C a bit.

The problem is that vBulletin Mobile Suite is made by Internet Brands themselves, not some other addon developer. Not to mention the fact that there's a strong chance it's physically impossible due to the fact that it's a compiled app and not runtime code like PHP is.

It's def not impossible. The shoutbox functionality can be coded the exact same as any chat application that's on the iphone. You would just limit the space used to display the text. It wouldn't be too difficult. Any general "Chat App" source code should show how to accomplish this, then code the specific area it would be displayed it. :)

I would do it myself, but they don't want to let me see the source code to make the changes....and i don't want to pay an arm and a leg for someone elses.

Uh... you're talking about integrating it into another app, not writing a whole new app like those chat apps.

And since they're not about to give us the source code for the vB Mobile Suite either, I do believe my original point still stands :)

I agree your point stands. However, I do think there is a community of followers here that would def use an App created by dragonbyte Vs. vBulletin. I personally am not all for their app. I am using it, but that's only because it's convenient. If there were a better alternative, say one created by dragonbyte with better functionality, i'd be all over it...as would a great deal of other forum owners.

Anyways, If you all decide to take this endeavor, i'd be willing to devote some time and code to the project to make it work. And yes, i know, the final product would be the property of Drangonbyte. :)

There's a variety of other options (ForumRunner and Tapatalk) that do the same, some of which have coded integrations with other mods for vB, etc.

Do you have a link to show what they have integrated? I have my site Tapatalk enabled, but i am not sure what mods are usable...they def aren't showing up in the app. Nothing is different from any other forums i've enabled via tapatalk.

Well, i'm pretty much over the "pay us for the app, and still can't access the source code" thing. I'll be spending sometime creating my own app and using it. Heck, i may even decide to release it as open source so other boards can expand on it and potentially tie in certain Mods. I'd love to get dragonbyte-tech's mods working via an iPhone app or Android app. :) who wouldn't?

Just a widget to open the shoutbox would be amazing, let VB cover the rest of the site adn just have an app for the detached shoutbox.
