Status Mod

Hey there,

I was told to post the specs for a mod you guys are building here.

Here is the old mod, for 3.x

I pretty much want the same features, except it needs to work with vb4



Features I would like
* display in postbit - I would like to be able to change the position of where it displays from skin to skin. Does not need to be built into the options, I just need to know what the piece of code is to move it. Let me know if that didnt make sense
* Display on profile pages
* Banning a list of usergroups from using the hack.
* Allowing a list of usergroups to change other users' status.
* Limit the # of characters used in Status Messages
* Word wrap status messages to prevent broken templates.
* Turning the hack on/off.
* Option of In-Line editting or a popup. (Defined in the admincp)
* Default status for users with a blank status. (Defined in the admincp)
* Status prefix to append an admin-customizable forum standard. (Attilitus is doing something)

Just gotta chime in with one particular comment I have:

Is there a particular reason why you'd want this feature?
It seems to me entirely pointless to have the option for a popup, especially when it's admin defined so it's global for the entire forum.

Having just a double-click to edit the status in-line seems to be the much better - that's why he changed it after all.

sounds fine to me.

Just double clicking should work, as long as its clear how to edit it? Maybe a pencil icon can pop up next to it, or just have the words edit like his version

also, another small request, Is there anyway, you can make it so that in the admincp, the options are listed in the 'settings' link.

I hate it when mods make their own drop down box in the admincp navigation

For a small mod like this, sure. For bigger mods that have their own admin functions, we do make their own drop down box
