Legacy Sort by Gender

The ability to sort by gender or categorized by gender. And we really need the color option. For example, if a user would like to purchase a set of eyes of a particular style, there should be a dropdown or popup where you can select the color of the eyes.

You can create gender differentiation yourself by creating a new Avatar Style for each gender

The colour issue has been discussed in lengths in the thread you already posted in

If it can be used for genders, can you allow multiple Avatar Styles per Avatar Part? Some parts are unisex.
