I get those every once in a while as I'm on a shared hosting plan and SOMEONE ends up killing the server. If you have a lot of users, and your refresh time is really low on the shoutbox, it could be that that is causing it. Make sure your shoutbox refresh is 10+ seconds and such.

But I get those anyway like I said, unrelated to the shoutbox.

These errors i got were continuous and the number of errors were a lot :(

But after disabling i have got none

Does this error come from many different usernames, or just one / a few?

I used to get those back on my old host, the problem turned out to be one specific user who was using an old computer.
It happened when the client (someone's computer) opened a connection but took too long to complete it or didn't properly close it. At least that's my experience, once that one user got a new comp the issues went away.

You could try increasing the timeout value in my.cnf but I'm not sure about the setting name or what values to use.

If you don't have access to the MySQL configuration or don't feel comfortable editing them, you can try what Trekkan suggested; increase the refresh time of the Shoutbox.

Errors are frm diff usernames executing diff queries....some replying at threads....some searching....

  1. Is AOP enabled?
  2. What's the refresh rate on your shoutbox?
  3. Do you have any massive chat rooms (usergroups with thousands of members)?

1.AOP-sorry didnt understand that
2.Refresh rate- 3 secs [It was the same that i had been using before]
3.No chat rooms - 2 active users

EDIT : Shoutbox Optimisation is set to database [worked well before]

Try setting Optimisation to the File System.
You may need to CHMOD /dbtech/vbshout/aop.php to 0777 if you get PHP file errors.

I actually came back to this thread as I'm seeing this problem as well now. It's not TOO bad, but about 25 or so errors since last night about too many connections to the server or the server has gone away (probably blocking me from the too many connections).

I'll wait to see if there's any official fix before I follow what's been done in this thread.

We're always working on optimisation in regards to the shoutbox because it can become a burden, especially on lightweight hosts. The AOP feature allows a lot of strain to be removed so ideally if you're having issues you should use it, but we have ideas in the works to dramatically reduce performance implications :)
