Is there a way to hide the footer for posts that do not have any thanks / likes / dislikes?

What footer are you referring to, the Post Thanks / Like block?
If so, then doing so would render the buttons unusable as they depend on the footer to be present to work, at this point in time.
As I said in previous threads others have posted on this subject, this is something we'll be revising in a future version

Yes, that was what I was referring to.
I thought that maybe with enabling them in the post foot that it would make the block unecessary to display unless there was data for the post.
