Question Give Points

How can I give points to a user as an award for a specific reason? Example, I run a contest and I want to give each person who enters 100 points and the winner 1000 points. Is this possible and how? Do I need to upgrade to the pro version?

There's no manual points assignment - specifically regarding contests, the Pro version has a Contests feature where you can assign points to be given to winners.

However, there's no "points for everyone who enters", sorry

Thank you for your reply, I have upgraded from lite to pro. To expand my original question, once a user wins a contest(s) and is awarded points along with points for regular activity, how can they redeem those points for actual prizes or gifts such as cash, gift cards, computers, etc.? Do you have a process or product for that option?

I don't believe that's possible, no. The only way to do that would be to use vBShop Pro and set up a new currency, but that would mean people could eventually just post farm their way into whatever you're giving away for physical prices.

vBShop Pro is the only method we currently have of allowing users to input custom fields like shipping data, for its Custom Item item type.

Using Vb Activity Pro, Is there a way to create a contest or award points where the winner receives points, but not for an action within the forum? Example: If you buy something from one of my forum sponsors, I will give you 500 points. Another example, let's say I host a forum for running and there is a race this weekend and 20 of my forum users are entered and I tell them that I will award 1000 points to the user with the best verifiable time. Can I do this with a combination of criteria, contests, awards, trophies, etc. and what would be the simplest method to accomplish the task?

Unfortunately not, vBActivity contests can currently only work with actions within the forum that it has support for tracking (i.e. that you can create Criteria from).
