What exactly is the points/credits system mean? I've attached a screenshot of mine.

Those are 2 different currencies as defined in vBCredits

I'm sorry but with all due respect that link doesn't explain anything. It just provides a way to transfer your points and/or credits.

What do my points and credits get me? Can I make a purchase with what I've accumulated so far?

Oh, you mean here on DBTech? No, they're just points for posting and such.

vBCredits can be integrated with vBShop to sell fun stuff like icons for the postbit, username changes, permission changes, etc. For a full list of what can be sold you can check out the vBShop feature list.

The only thing that can be used to discount your purchases are Discount Points, which you can see in the header of the site here next to your Loyalty Level.
