I know CSS sprites has been requested to be a part of vBOptimize already, http://www.dragonbyte-tech.com/f48/css-sprites-6922/ but this may be a separate issue.

Not entirely sure I see how this would benefit vBShop, since it'd be a bad idea to demand shop owners to create sprites for shop images.

mabye some way to do it automaticly..

Doing it automatically would increase server load due to the fact that it'd need to dynamically generate and apply them.

It would still need to be recreated quite often, and since the postbit items are fairly small browsers should have no issues caching them.
