Question about selling

Here’s how selling works on our forum:

A seller posts an item for sale.
Buyers send a private message to the seller to arrange payment and shipping privately.
The seller marks the sales listing as ‘finished’.
The sales listing is archived.

Is it possible in Classifieds for the seller to mark an item as sold/finished, and have it archived as a regular sold item without canceling the listing? Or make it so that only the seller could 'buy' their own item with the 'buy it now' button?

Ideally, they’d be able to enter the username of the buyer so that they could both leave feedback for the transaction and have a record of their sales/purchases, but I understand if that can’t be done.

We don't have all those mechanisms in place, but with the v2 update i'm working on we might be able to add more options that might fit what you need.

At the moment, completed listings can be archived and listings can be cancelled. We might be able to introduce the idea of someone marking a listing as sold if they've sold it outside of the Classifieds system. The tricky bit might be how to handle fees that are normally charged on completing a listing. I'll take a look and see if we can work something like that in to the system. I'll keep you informed on my progress. I would suggest opening a thread specifically for this idea in the Classifieds Lite forum here so that I can keep you updated on it and ask any other questions about what you are specifically wanting.

As a word of caution, remember that unless you have a mod that encrypts Private Messages, vBulletin doesn't do so. That means it is possible for someone's addresses to be extracted from Private Messages. Though Classifieds doesn't fully encrypt address data, we do store the addresses in a way that makes it more difficult for addresses to be collected.
