My server hosts reply

We were able to replicate the error from our end and could see the Xcache and Memcache are configured properly and Xcache admin authentication was Nullified as per the VB optimise forum suggested. We still see the error persists and kindly request you to check your VBoptimise admin settings (config.php) to remove the authentication for Xcache and Memcache.

Any ideas?

I've added the XCache test scripts to this post, if you upload the files and run them in order via your browser, you will see whether this is a problem with your configuration or with vB Optimise.

Please make sure display_errors is turned on in php.ini, most likely a PHP error is being hidden by an incorrectly configured server.

Without seeing the actual PHP error, if test 2 does not display Working! then XCache is not configured correctly.

That's a bit strange, as usually storage issues reveals a PHP error. In either case, those scripts are 100% independent of vBulletin & vBOptimise, so the fact that your server cannot retain the cached variable across a simple script like that indicates a server issue. You'll need to contact your host for assistance with this issue.
