Bug Stopwords not being filtered from URLs

I recently installed dbseo with the understanding that I could retain my old URL formats and structure.

Stopwords are not being filtered from my URLs like they are supposed to.

I found a post on the forums where you mentioned the following comment:

One thing I should note: URL structures are sometimes slightly different from vBSEO to DBSEO. If you are using forum titles with no forum IDs in them, stopwords are not filtered from those URLs as they are in vBSEO. This is to correct a bug report we received where stopwords caused certain forums to not resolve correctly, and caused multiple forums to have the same rewritten URL causing confusion.

I do not have forum IDs in our forum URLs, and would like to get a fix for this so we don't have to change all the URLs on our forum and deal with SEO problems and re-indexing.

Even if this fix is for my script only, that's fine with me, as hopefully hopefully it does not cause the bug reported by others as mentioned in your message above. Even so I would think this bug would have been resolved by now.

Maintaining our URLs in the move from vbseo to dbseo is very important.

Have you tried turning on the Legacy Forum URL setting in the Rewrite Settings?

That seemed to fix it, I didn't notice that option prior to posting this thread.

Thank you.

I'm curious to know what the risks are of using the Legacy URLs? Is there anything specific I should look for in my forum pages/URLs anywhere to determine if this selection will cause a problem I might not notice right away?

The only way this could cause an issue is if you had two forums with titles that resolved to the same URL once stopwords are filtered.

Scenario:
Forum A is named "Help And Support"
Forum B is named "Help And Support: Again"

Without the legacy URLs:
Forum A's SEO URL: "help-and-support"
Forum B's SEO URL: "help-and-support-again"

With legacy URLs:
Forum A's SEO URL: "help-support"
Forum B's SEO URL: "help-support"

Thus, conflict. If you ran your forum with vBSEO successfully, you will not be affected by this issue. The reason why the setting is called "Legacy URL" rather than "vBSEO Compatibility" or some such, is the fact that DBSEO worked identical to vBSEO until we received reports of forum title conflicts, upon which I changed it.

People who had then imported from vBSEO complained, so the setting was added :)

Cool that makes sense. Things have been going good so far. Just tidying things up on the test forum before we make the big switch.

As you probably know we bought a few other mods as well but we wanted to wait until dbseo was settled before we got into implementing those as getting away from vbseo is the most important.

Thanks for the help. And keep up the good work.
