I was wondering how difficult it would be to add blog posts and social group posts as currency generating fields like it is currently set up for posts and threads created.

That would be a job for a dedicated points mod like vBCredits II Deluxe, the integrated points generating aspect of vBShop is just something very basic to not 100% require a dedicated points mod
