Question How to get Google maps to show up?

I have maps turned on in the instance, and I have an address in the address field, but no map is showing up. Is there something else that I have to do to get this working? Is it looking specifically for an address in a specific format?

The only way the maps will show up is if the address you posted successfully resolved to a Latitude and Longitude via the Google Maps API.

Make sure the SimpleXML library is installed and loaded in PHP.

hrm, SimpleXML is installed...

Simplexml support enabled
Revision $Revision: 299016 $
Schema support enabled

PHP is installed as fcgi though - would that have anything to do with it not working?

In that case, it may simply be a matter of the address not being resolvable in Google Maps. Make sure the address can resolve to a latitude and longitude when browsing in Google Maps.

It looks like if there is a special character in the address it's not resolving. I was using this address to test:
Eskilsvägen 59
136 43 Handen
Sweden

as soon as I changed Eskilsvägen to Eskilsvagen it worked.

That could be a bug in the mod and it could be a lack of search results when the special character is included, I couldn't say at this time.

Google seems to handle the address with those characters. Maybe they're not being passed in the correct charset? (in this case it's utf-8)
