Was in my eyes, a brilliant way of bringing vb communties together..I miss it! my members still ask were has it gone? And I'm sure anyone who took the plunge also feels the same way.

Regardless of using third parties which was the downfall of it..I'm pretty sure most webmasters would buy into it again, If it was done right.Either by monthly subs or something around that.Would this be feasible?

The problem is, as you say, using third party software. That's not something we want to get involved in really.

The problem is relying on outside sources for data software etc. It's just really not worth the risk for us unfortunately :(

But at the worse scenario, you would only owe a month back refund should the third party renege..You do it now via vbarcade global scoring...It's the same principle..

We might only owe a month money wise (which in itself would be a huge headache accounting wise) but it would also harm our reputation and the goodwill people have towards us - even if it wasn't our fault, it would still be held against us.

With vBArcade we have several external sources, plus the mod can be used with manual sources if those should all happen to fail so the risk is much lower.

To be honest Cosmic I'm at a loss..External sources are third party in my book..Manual sources? Unless you have a home grown server you'll never see manual resources come into play.As we saw over the last few weeks when the site up and down..

External as in, you can get the stuff from outside, but once you have it, you no longer have a dependency on that source. At least, that's how I read it.

^ What Trekkan said.

With vBArcade once you grab the games you have them. Not only that but should ONE source - say kongregate, stop functioning there are still several others that can be used.

By manual sources I meant people can find and add games from elsewhere if they choose to.

WIth something like party poker it just takes ONE third party to screw up and the entire product is totally screwed - because there only is one.

Unless you create your own source, but point taken..
