Question VBSEO to DBSEO Database Changes?

We are migrating our forums to a new server. The old server is running while we are configuring the new server. The old server is running VBSEO. We are going to use DBSEO on the new on. At the moment both the old and new servers are online and accessing the same database (which is ok because they are running the same vbulletin).

My question: if I install DBSEO on the new server will it break VBSEO on the old server? I am think that the step of turning of VBSEO on the new server will also turn it off on the old server? Am I right? If so, is there a way to install DBSEO on the new server without causing a problem for the old server until we are ready to shut down the old server?

Hi Chuck,

Unfortunately that is not going to be possible without some custom coding. In order for DragonByte SEO to function correctly, vBSEO needs to be disabled via the Plugins & Products page, which means it will also affect your old server. In addition, DragonByte SEO needs to be installed & enabled via the same page, meaning it will also affect your old server.

Thank you very much for your quick reply. I will install this on our test site first then.

How much downtime should I allow for installation on the live forums once I am happy with the test site?

Assuming there's no problems with the importer - there's a very low chance that the Custom Redirect Rules, Custom Character Filter and Custom Rewrite Rules do not import correctly - less than 5 minutes.

Once the new .htaccess has been applied it's pretty much good to go.
