I second this. It's useful for when people are uploading files for a game or program so you can mark which version of the game/program it was made for.
You could put everything into the description but I think it's more for asthetics. Like with the game site, you could put the name, version of the game, type of mod, etc. Or say you have a vehicle site with tech docs, you can have a field for the make/model, the year ranges, the part of the vehicle it's dealing with. You could put that all in the description but it would look better and be easier to read if they had their own fields.
