I read this part "!!! THIS VERSION REQUIRES XENFORO 2.2.0 AND PHP 7.2.0 !!!"

This is confusing because Xenforo is releasing BETA versions at this time of this post. (August 31, 2020)

Why should anyone upgrade to DB eCommerce 2.2.0rc1 when the final version of Xenforo 2.2.0 has not been released and as of this post, the official release date has NOT been announced?

Can someone clarify this?

Another question...

What if someone's DB eCommerce license expires BEFORE the final release of Xenforo 2.2.0, are those admins be forced to pay for a FULL renewal cost of DB eCommerce 2.2.0 due to the timing of the version releases of both Xenforo and eCommerce?

No-one should, if you have not already upgraded to XenForo 2.2.0. In fact, it's entirely impossible to upgrade to eCommerce v2.2 if you are running XenForo 2.1.

Some people do tend to install beta versions of XenForo on their live site, though I can't possibly imagine who would be crazy enough to do that... 😛

Jokes aside, I'm pretty glad I decided to upgrade DBTech to XF 2.2 so I could test eCommerce v2.2 and Tickets v2.2. I found a fair number of bugs and fixed them before this release was posted.

When a license expires, you are entitled to download all versions (including beta / release candidate versions) released up until the very second the license expires.

In other words, if your license expired tomorrow, you would be entitled to download v2.2.0 RC1, but not RC2 or the Gold version.

This is consistent with XenForo's own licensing terms.

Ok, maybe, I need to clarify what I'm asking...

Hypothetically speaking...

Let's say that Xenforo releases the full final release of Xenforo 2.2.0 tomorrow, September 1st. However, DB eCommerce is still on RC1 at the time of the XF release. However, my eCommerce 2.1 license expires tomorrow as well, but I am unable to download the eCommerce RC2 or the final release of eCommerce 2.2 AFTER September 1st because of the timing of the license expirations.

So... based on what I understand of your explanation in the previous post... on September 2nd, I will be forced to pay the FULL cost of renewing DB eCommerce regardless of the version to be used for the new Xenforo 2.2.0 version.

Am I correct to assume this?

Yes, that would be the correct interpretation. I don't plan to backdate future RC versions, or the Gold version, to make their release dates match RC1.

I should point out that when you say "FULL cost of renewing", renewal costs are cheaper than a whole new license. You would not need to purchase a new license in order to access the Gold release.

Alight...

If my eCommerce license expired on September 1st, but I waited until September 15th to renew the eCommerce license (regardless of version at the time of renewal), I will still be eligible for the renewal rate.

Is this correct?

At the time of writing, expired licenses can be renewed with a discount of 25%. Currently active licenses can be renewed with a discount of 50%.

In other words, it would be in your best interest to renew licenses before they expire.
