Bug "too many redirects" error with dbSEO

I had disabled dbSEO for several hours, and when I turned it back on, any time I tried to go to a CMS type page, I would get a "too many redirects" error on both Firefox and Chrome. If I would disable dbDEO again, then that error went away, but now any links in my navigation bar that go to CMS pages would no longer work and just redirect to the home page. If I would go into the Navigation Manager and changed those links and saved, they would now work again. If I would then enable dbSEO, the same problem would occur once again.

I had not had any problems at all with dbSEO until now. I was running v 1.3.6 when this issue first stated today, and then saw the most recent update and installed it to see if it would correct the problem before I contacted you for support, but installing the update did not resolve the issue.

Thanks.

Have you turned off the vBulletin Friendly URLs and made sure the canonical URL enforcement is also turned off?

This was a paid installation last July and I haven't changed anything in either AdminCP or dbSEO CP. Please see attached screen cap, looks like Friendly URLs is off, but canonical enforcement is on?

ok, changed those settings, and then enabled dbSEO. Same issue still occurring. Disabled dbSEO, problem went away.

Could you please create and PM me with a temporary FTP and AdminCP account?

For security reasons, we recommend you create a new FTP account only for DBTech support, then disable or delete it after we have both confirmed the issue has been solved and there are no further issues.

The same applies to AdminCP accounts; they should ideally be temporary accounts created for us only. If we have created an account on your site already, you can optionally boost that account to Administrator and then de-admin this account once the issue has been solved.

If you use a .htaccess password protection for your AdminCP directory, it is recommended that you create a new authorised user for DBTech and remove this user once the issue has been solved.

Please test any temporary accounts you create to ensure that the FTP account has access to the forum files, and that the AdminCP account can access the administrative controls for the product we are assisting you with.

Ensuring this is all in order before submitting the information will significantly speed up the process of assisting you. We will alert you via PM if there's any issues with the login information you have provided.

When sending the PM, for your security you should also un-tick the "Save a copy in my Sent Items folder" checkbox. When the access details have been received, we will delete the PM from our inbox. Ensuring you have not kept a copy of the PM reduces the risk of security breaches.

Thank you for helping us debug our products and allowing us to assist you, we appreciate it :D

Update: This has been resolved @ your site. For some reason, all .htaccess edits to DBSEO had been removed, and as the server sent a 404, it would redirect to the loop you experienced.

Please let me know if there are any other issues or whether this issue can be closed. Thanks :)

Yes, all appears to be working, so please close the ticket. Thank you for diagnosing and resolving the problem. That is very, very strange as I have not even accessed the .htaccess in months, so how that occurred will bear further checking into.

Thank you, please feel free to start a new support ticket if you run into any more problems or you have any questions :)
