Bug Calendar

I've just noticed it's duplicated the event several times in the navigation on the left. I've also joined a cult today and there is several duplicated events of that cult too. Something is not quite right. And it's also under 'Your events' though I didn't add the ones from the cult I joined today as that is somebody else's cult who hasn't created an event by the looks of it.

Hello :)

It is not necessary to bump tickets. A lack of reply just mean I have no questions or comments at this time and I will look into it as soon as I can.

I'm writing to you again about a critical issue with the Calendar feature in the Social Groups add-on. It's creating duplicate entries in the calendar navigation and when I click on any of these entries, I receive an error (as shown in the attached screenshots).

This makes the Calendar completely unusable and creates a very messy user experience. I purchased the Calendar add-on for $60 specifically because I needed this functionality immediately, as advertised within the Social Groups add-on page.

I understand you're busy but I was disappointed to receive the response "I have no questions or comments at this time" without any indication of when this issue might be investigated. I need to know when I can expect a fix for this problem. The current state of the Calendar makes the add-on unusable and I'd appreciate it if you could provide a timeframe for when this will be addressed.

Unfortunately I'm midway through some changes in the Social Groups add-on that prevents me from releasing an update right at this moment. I'm hoping to finish that this week, and release an update as soon as possible.

Meanwhile I've tried to replicate this issue and I can't. Are there any errors in the server error log? Does it happen with all events, or only certain event types (recurring, single, etc)?

It creates several entries for the Social Group in the navigation of the Calendar on the left (in List view) when Calendar is enabled for a Social Group.

These entries, when clicked on, give that error.

I tried to test this in one of my Groups, by enabling Calendar then creating an event. Upon creation of the event it then takes you to this error page which you can't view.

I hope this explains it better.

No error is being logged and I can't tell you if it's single or recurring. Is there meant to be a calendar within the social group itself? When I tested it, I had to go directly into Calendar index page and create it via there.

What do you mean, "go directly into the Calendar index page and create it via there"? I don't know what this means.

When you go to Edit Group and tick this box:
1756837706888.webp

A calendar is created for the group if one does not exist already. You then click Calendar in the sidebar:
1756837742490.webp

and you'll be able to create a new event from there.

Please clarify.

Yes, I don't have that in the navigation of the social group. Is there a permission I am missing?

To be precise: The calendar is enabled and I am the owner. I don't see the Calendar tab in the left hand side of the navigation of the social group.

There's a few things to check here:

1. Is the Calendar integration enabled in the XenForo options?
2. Are you running a version of Calendar newer than 2.6.0?
3. Can you check the xf_dbtech_social_groups_group table and check the enable_calendar and calendar_id columns for your group?

1. Yes.
2. 2.6.1 but I checked on XenForo it's showing as 2.6.0 but on his site its 2.6.1 but the change is minimal from what I can see "Fix an issue when creating the default calendar on a fresh install.".
3. You mean in database, right?

Yes, in the database.

Also, just so you can be prepared; if I'm not able to find the solution remotely, I will require AdminCP, FTP and database access to your site to assist further. I'll post the "request site access" macro if that ends up being required.

Okay, I have been able to diagnose and remedy the problem.

You should follow these steps:
1. Delete all existing .zip files for v2.3.0 of Social Groups and empty your recycle bin
2. Re-download a fresh copy from your client area here
3. Re-import it via the Archive Manager in your AdminCP
4. Go to admin.php?event/calendars/ and delete all calendars that belong to social groups
5. Go to admin.php?dbtech-social/groups/ and for each social group that has enable_calendar set to 1 in the database, edit & save those groups with no changes

After following these steps, you should no longer see new instances of a group's calendar spawning every time the group is edited.

Thank you for your help with this, I appreciate it :D
