Hey all,
While working on vBShout for vB5, I made some technological advances that I realised could significantly benefit the current vBulletin 3/4 versions. Thus, we're proud to present vBShout v6.1.0 Beta 1 available immediately to Pro customers with active licences.
The main feature in this version is the fact that the performance penalty associated with enabling the Context Menu (the advanced JavaScript menu that has additional options) has been completely eliminated! This menu is now enabled for all users, and offers the same functionality as before.
We also made significant improvements to the general speed of the JavaScript. Each time an action was taking place in JavaScript, the time needed to look up the elements has been significantly reduced, which should result in less CPU power used on your computer. Low-end systems may have in the past experienced browser lock-ups or crashes, which if the cause was vBShout should now be alleviated.
When we first released vBShout, vBulletin 3.x was still quite popular compared to vBulletin 4 - we recognise that many of you are running this mod on vB3. For that reason, we've updated the user experience on the vB3 version to more closely resemble that of the vB4 version. You'll now find the Colour Picker, Font Face Picker and Font Size Picker styled in the same way the vB4 version is.
The new editor style in the vB3 version introduced new CSS, and some of you have expressed in the past that the way CSS worked in vBShout needed to change. Having too much inline CSS on the page could potentially impact SEO, and doesn't allow for leveraging the browser cache. This has been addressed - all CSS from the vB3 version of vBShout is now served by a cache-able file. The vB4 version has always served its CSS from cache-able files, and is unaffected by this change.
If you like the product, you can show your support by nominating it for Mod of the Month here: vBShout (vB4) or here: vBShout (vB3), and also please rate it to help cancel out the users who 1 star our mods. Thanks
