Question PayPal Payment Gateway

Hello,

Just a quick question. eCommerce uses the default xenForo Payment Profiles? If yes, then for PayPal uses just the PP account email and not API?

Correct, eCommerce uses the XenForo Payment Profile system. This is why it's not a Classifieds add-on / does not support features like allowing members to get paid to their own PayPal accounts, fee splitting, etc. Those features are not possible using XF's payment profile system.

I just wonder how you base a so powerful commerce solution to a system that uses PayPal Standard Payments.
I got a bad experience using WHMCS which is a well known PHP commerce solution.

In any case, it was just a private suggestion to use API. Finally nobody can blames you if something goes wrong as the issue will comes from xenForo functionality and not your code.

It would not be possible to use PayPal’s APIs for a number of reasons. The most important reasons:
1. PayPal’s API requires you to submit your code to them for review every so often, and whenever you update it. This makes releasing bug fixes in a timely manner impossible.
2. I would then be responsible for any bugs in the implementation, which I am currently not.
3. Not using payment profiles will render the system unable to take other forms of payment such as Stripe, cryptocurrency or DB Credits.

There’s nothing stopping you from creating your own PayPal profile that uses the API, though
