Question HTML Markup Question

Looking for some help.

I have added a secondary usergroup to my forum. VIP Members. I have added the following code to the HTML Markup

<span style='color: red'><img src='images/vip.gif' border='0'></span>

Which puts a little image before the username on the forums. I need it so this image doesnt show on the shoutbox at all. So it just takes into account the usergroup colour.

can this be done?
