Bug Featured bar never appear

Hi Matt,
the Featured bar not appear in no place of the forum and nothing in the plugin.
Is there something with your instruction that I can make?

It won't appear if there are items that aren't featured. That might be the first thing to check.

Check out this area to see if the settings work:

AdminCP > DBTech - Classifieds > DragonByte Tech: Classifieds - Advert Settings

That page has a lot of settings for random/ordering. The last time I knew they worked properly. Note that if you set to a number (for example 5) and you have less than 5 or less that fall into that category (for example featured) then you will find it will show the same ones in a random order.

Also, the background issue will be skin related. Is it a DBTech skin? If it's custom and not from DBTech, you may need to get the skin designer to check what's the problem, or it could be another mod adjusting the HTML slightly to create that issue.

yes I have just tried to set it there, but also with the 2 bars deactivated on that page, is visualized in the way I show you.
So I think is a skin problem, but the coder don't give any support...

This issue I have fixed by changing the colour of the background that wasn't setted good.
Now the skin is visualized good but the 2 bars still don't want appear. I have tried with all the setting.

Wow, this is a strange bug... If set to '0' meaning unlimited, then there are non displayed. If I set it to 5, I get 5, to 4 I get 4, to 9 I get 1, to 8 I get 2... There's something very strange. I'll dig into the code when I get back this afternoon to trace the issue.

Ok, managed to trace this problem. It is a bug, and it isn't a bug. It's partly working as intended, and partly not...

To explain:

The forumdisplay has two hooks we use, above and below the subforums. When a page has no subforums, those hooks don't exist. We expected that. So no featured/classifieds boxes show in those locations. Working as intended, no bug.

However...

What is a bug and what isn't working as intended is that the system thinks it's still displaying those boxes, so it grabs some featured Ads, before the other featured box does. Those Ads are then prevented from appearing (which is intended) so that you don't have duplicates all over the page. But since when subforums don't exist they won't be displayed, it's taking the Ads and 'hiding' them from being displayed.

This is fixed in the next update, but it won't magically make the boxes appear on pages without subforums.

In the place where you see the options bar that must be moved, would be good to make a write/link to the Classified home page. For Example "Enter in the Marketplace" or something like this.

And it would be also good when the people click on an item and see that item, to place a big button (maybe centred down the review of the object) inside each classified to bring the people to the home page of the plugin.

Some nice ideas here.

Regarding moving the menu/options bar, we use the hook that vBulletin put in place. We can't move them without manual editing the template. If you want to move the location upwards slightly, then you could adjust where the hook is located in your templates.

Your other ideas, please post them in separate threads and I'll take a look at them as we continue to develop Classifieds.

I'm marking this as fixed as the bug this thread was opened for is now resolved.

Please don't you know how I can move this option bar above the thread list?
You say that I have to edit the template, so is it difficult to know what file to open and what to change to fix it?

The option to choose location is in the AdminCP Classifieds Settings pages. The options for:
Forum Display Pages - Thread List - Featured Box - Location
Forum Display Pages - Thread List - Classifieds Box - Location
They give an option for above or below the thread list. If those two options don't work, then you would manually need to change the position of either of these hooks (depending on which you had connected in the above settings):
{vb:raw template_hook.forumdisplay_below_threadlist}
{vb:raw template_hook.forumdisplay_above_threadlist}
They are both in the FORUMDISPLAY template.

Once done refresh or rebuild the cache and styles. That might work for what you need.

If you want post a new feature request for a custom variable for the locations of these boxes in a new thread, I'll look at the possibility of doing something like that for version 2. But it won't be any sooner.
