As those of you who were online in the past ~45 minutes (from the time of writing) may have noticed, DBTech recently went down in order to upgrade to its new eCommerce system, vBeCommerce v2.0.0.

Before I start discussing the changes and new features, I would like to specify that vBeCommerce is not available for sale, and we currently have no plans of making it available.

Now then, on to what you as customers care about: What Has vBeCommerce Done For Me Lately!?


You will find that you no longer need to click a drop-down in order to get to the product info page. The "Testimonials" feature has been (temporarily?) removed, as it was largely un-used anyway. We may bring it back at some point, if we can find a way to make it worth your time to actually write one.

The next feature is something that only affects new purchases - the download button will be replaced with informative text if you have not yet filled out the Licence Settings. That should be a welcome change for those of you with slower connections, or who like to slow down their connections by downloads etc, as you no longer need to wait for an error message to load, and then click another link to get to the Licence Settings page.

When you actually buy a product, if your PayPal email address is different from your registered forum address, you will need to click a link sent to your PayPal email address in order to activate the product. This is a security and anti-fraud feature, and will need to be done once per transaction. That means, if you buy 5 products in one transaction, you only get one email. We hope this will bring an added layer of security and confidence that nobody will be able to benefit from hacking your PayPal account.

If you are a registered business in the European Union (or simply want an invoice), you can now request and download invoices from the "Your Transactions" page in the Customer Area. You will need to fill out your business information, and once you have filled that in you will be able to download an invoice in PDF format instantly. If you would like a VAT invoice (only for EU businesses), please wait for us to manually verify your entered business details. Once we have verified your business details against the EU Business Database, you will be allowed to download a VAT-enabled invoice.
In addition, if you would like to reclaim VAT, you will be given this option from the same page once we have verified your business details as an EU VAT-registered business.

In your Customer Area, expired licences are now grouped separately in the bottom of the page. This will make it easier for you to find out what licences you no longer receive updates for, while still leaving you free to download older versions at your leisure.

Coupons are now individually applied per-product, and you can apply only one coupon per item in your cart. Meaning, if you have a discount coupon created for you by Cosmic, you will need to apply it to each item in your shopping cart separately. We made this change in order to be able to create more fine-grained coupons for you.

Where one feature is removed, another is added; We have added support for what we are calling "Discount Points". These will work as currency. For instance, if a product costs $50, you could use $50 worth of Discount points - or $25 and $25 worth of Discount Points.
The ways a customer can receive / earn Discount Points are still being decided by Cosmic, but there are already some ideas floating around such as rewards for referrals, gifts to people creating addons / translations, prizes in contests etc. You may want to keep up to date with Cosmic's Dev Blogs for more information & opportunities to earn Discount Points ( http://www.dragonbyte-tech.com/blogs/3-Cosmic )


The remaining changes are mostly in the Admin Control Panel, where I have simplified the many processes we go through when bringing you new products and new version upgrades.

Please bear in mind that this is a major upgrade, and as such there may be issues and bugs. Please report them in our Site Support forum - who knows, there may even be rewards in it for you if you choose to report an issue ;)
