Pending Custom user field

Hi there,

First off, I want to say thank you for all the work you’ve put into DragonByte Shop. I’ve been using it on my nostalgia themed forum and really appreciate how flexible it is, especially with custom items and reward systems.

One area I was hoping you might consider improving in a future update is how custom user fields are handled after a purchase. Right now, when users buy a flair or other customizable item tied to a user field, there doesn’t seem to be a built in way for them to select their choice during or after checkout. This means I have to manually edit each user’s profile in the admin panel, which isn’t scalable and can be confusing for users who expect the process to be automatic.

It would be incredibly helpful if there were an interface allowing users to select a value for a custom user field either:

• During purchase
• Immediately after purchase (via a simple form or dropdown in inventory)
• Or even just an in-forum prompt where their selection gets recorded for admin review

If something like that could be implemented, it would really streamline things and make the feature much more accessible for forum members.

Sorry, I’m not sure I understand what you mean by custom user fields. Are you talking about the item configuration, such as setting the colour for the “User Title Color” etc?

Yes, I’m using the Custom Item type in DragonByte Shop, and I’ve linked it to a XenForo custom user field (like flair_icon or username_style). The goal is to let users choose a value (such as a flair or style) when they buy the item.

Right now, when a user purchases the item, they only see a plain text box to enter their choice even though the underlying XenForo user field is set as a dropdown with preset options. This makes the process error prone, since users can easily mistype their entry.

It would be extremely helpful if DragonByte Shop could:

• Render the actual dropdown defined in the XenForo custom user field during purchase or configuration
• Or let me define a list of selectable choices (like a dropdown) directly in the item config

This would prevent mistakes and make the shop feel more polished and user friendly. Thanks!

I’ll have to check the code tomorrow as I’m not in the office right now, but I don’t recall this being a feature in DB Shop.

Custom Item item type doesn’t do anything with the inputs it collects, to the best of my recollection.

Are you sure you’re not using a separate addon that connects the Custom Item item type to a user field?

Thanks for the quick reply. Yes, I can confirm I’m not using any other add-on to connect the Custom Item type to user fields — everything is happening manually right now.


What I’ve done is create items (like user flair) that should modify a user’s profile field but since there’s no way for the user to make that selection during or after checkout I’m relying on them to message me with their choice or I have to track it manually.

I think the Custom Item type collecting input is a great starting point but it would be amazing if that input could be captured and:

• Shown to admins (maybe in the transaction log or item use history)
• Optionally mapped to a custom user field
• Or even just exported in a way that makes user customization easier to apply

Even a basic interface for the user to submit a value (like a drop-down or text field) and have it saved with their purchase would be a big improvement.
