Please add hierarchical categories. We need categories and subcategories. Without it users will not find social groups. Its quite important
Tags simply doesn't work if you have hundreds of groups.
In my experience Categories work very well. If a group is posted in the wrong category, then moderators will just move it. It makes groups easy to find.
Some form of custom labels would work as well. As long as there is a navigation widget.
I do expect that this is a deal-breaker for customers currently using other social group addons that do offer categories. Sites with a lot of groups need their users to be able to browse and find groups. I've know various people with a lot of websites that have asked for categories or have heard that its not there.

- Tags do not have hierarchy. i.e. no subcategories.
- Tag pages mix with a mass of other content. Not only are tag pages in xenforo quite useless, but good luck trying to find a social group in 200 tag results.
- Tag pages have a maximum of 10 pages / 200 results. The groups will not even get listed if it is a popular tag.
- You can not filter tags.
- Tags can not have special characters like &. Several of our categories use this to combine terms.
- The tags widget in social groups does not only display groups, but also group content. So this widget quickly fills up with tags that are not group categorization.
